Our Team’s Recommendations for Best TV Shows, Books, Movies and Podcasts To Enjoy While At Home

PartnerCentric

Every week during our all-hands Tuesday Chats, we provide updates for our departments but also answer fun prompt questions that change every week. A few weeks ago (when life was very different) we were asked to share what our current favorite books, movies, tv shows and podcasts are. It was an enjoyable discussion and we were excited to have an arsenal of new entertainment to explore in our free time. Fast forward to now and with the need to practice social distancing, we thought we would share this list with all of you to provide our recommendations and also open the floor to hear about what you’re watching, reading and listening to.

After all, when you work from home, you need to be more vigilant than ever about a work/life balance, and when you can’t go anywhere, that means your “life” is centered around what you can entertain yourself with at home. We hope this list helps for those times you need a little recharge before you can get back to taking over the world.

It is about tolerance, loving kindness, self-love, community and so much more! Not to mention the cast will have you laughing and crying in the best way from start-to-finish every single episode! • Ugly Delicious (Netflix)

  • StarTrek (Prime Video)

I have been getting back into Star Trek. I just finished the first two seasons of Star Trek Discovery and I’m about up to date on Star Trek Picard. I was really into Star Trek: The Next Generation in junior high, but haven’t watched a Star Trek TV series since the end of DS9 so it’s been fun getting back in touch with my roots. Fun fact: my friend Michael and I went to an actual Star Trek convention in 1995. I did NOT wear a costume and no pictures are known to exist." - Adam Dahlen, PartnerCentric VP of Client Success

"My all-time favorite book is Bitter is the New Black by Jennifer Lancaster. I read this book over and over when I need too lighten my mood and get a good laugh in. Her ability to look back at her hardships and laugh and allow others to laugh with her is truly amazing! Always have to look for the silver lining, and sometimes it can be hard, but it is there more often than not." - Patti Jones, PartnerCentric Account Manager

Podcasts

  • Stuff You Should Know by Josh Clark and Charles W. "Chuck" Bryant
  • 99% Invisible by Roman Mars
  • Hardcore history by Dan Carlin

"A few years ago, Tom [Tom Rathbone is PartnerCentric's VP of Strategic Initiatives] introduced me to this and since then I've listened to every single podcast at least once (including over 15 hours on the Roman Republic) and some probably 3-4 times.  The way the host presents the information and discusses it makes it easily digestible and extremely interesting (to me at least). Basically, he'll read at least 5-7 books on the subject and then along with his own knowledge present the information in a discussion format.  One awesome thing he does is leaves a bibliography at the end of the web piece for it so you can read the books related if you want. I've learned so many fascinating tidbits about events I thought I knew everything about." - Dan Fink, PartnerCentric Associate Director of Client Success - Small Business and Finance
