Affiliate Marketing Roundup for Week of September 16

An Affiliate Marketing Primer
There’s no better time to think about launching an affiliate marketing program, even if Q4 isn’t typically your “busy” season. We always advocate for some prep work, which is really just familiarizing yourself with the affiliate channel’s ins and outs. (Don’t worry, if you partner with an agency like PartnerCentric, we do the bulk of that heavy lifting!) But, if you’re curious and want to get some more background on your own, this article is a great place to start. You can also always download our free ebook, Affiliate 101.
Escaping the Cookie Comfort Zone
Another delay in the deprecation of Google’s third-party cookies (to the second half of 2024) has many brands breathing a sigh of relief. But, procrastination in addressing this inevitability is a mistake. Getting out of the cookie comfort zone may not be easy, but it’s also not impossible. As this article states, “If you don't act now, you're effectively ceding strategic control.” Give it a read to explore some potential solutions for your brand, specifically.
Stay Curious, Marketers
What are the two soft skills that will always be necessary for success in affiliate marketing? Curiosity and savvy. Whether or not you’re an in-house or outsourced manager, you have to understand the whole business. And, you must know how to best apply that knowledge in a meaningful way. More on how the affiliate channel has evolved (and what that means for account managers) in this spotlight piece from Martech Record's "On the Record," featuring PartnerCentric CEO Stephanie Harris.

Just for Fun: 10 Most Haunted Cities in America and the Ghosts That Call Them Home
I wasn't kidding when I said spooky season is here! Check out some of the most haunted cities in America. Fun fact: a PartnerCentric employee retreat a few years back was in Savannah and we went to Moon River Brewing Company, which is apparently known as the most haunted place in town...to everyone but us. Either way, the food (and beer!) was fantastic and, honestly, whether the wait staff included ghosts or not, the service was excellent so they're clearly doing something right.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
“Learning and innovation go hand in hand. The arrogance of success is to think that what you did yesterday will be sufficient for tomorrow.”
